This week was busy across the district, including visits from Pulitzer Prize winners, former Dallas Cowboys players, and state education leaders. And that’s not to mention three of our schools earned Blue Ribbon designations!

Blue Ribbon status

Three Dallas ISD schools have earned National Blue Ribbon status this year, one of the most prestigious recognitions for a school. (See the schools here)

Reading room

Dallas ISD opened its first Ben Carson Reading Room at John Quincy Adams Elementary. The reading room creates a literacy-enriched environment for students to develop their reading skills. (Learn more)

HBCU experience

The HBCU Experience cranked up at Hulcy STEAM Middle School to highlight historically black colleges and universities. (Learn more)

Former Cowboys visit Richardson Elementary

Former Dallas Cowboys players led students at Thelma Elizabeth Page Richardson Elementary School in physical activities and drills. (Watch this)

School Time-Capsule Project

The School Time-Capsule Project, which helps students and parents communicate with each other while giving students an opportunity to consider their future goals, has expanded to 11 schools. (Read this)

P-TECH Advisory Council

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s State of Texas P-TECH Advisory Council held a conference at Seagoville High School to discuss the design, planning, implementation and partnership development for the unique initiative. (Read this)

Picture perfect event

Five Pulitzer Prize-winning photographers and a photographer who won an International Women in Media award met with Conrad students to provide insights and stories from their incredible careers. (Read this)

State of Public Education address

The Dallas Regional Chamber welcomed business and civic leaders to downtown Dallas at the Sheraton Hotel for the district’s State of Public Education Address. (Read this)
