Students get real world experience through prestigious internships (video)

About 100 Dallas ISD high school students enrolled in a NAF Academy served as paid interns at prestigious companies over the summer.

The interns—who worked at companies such as Verizon, Capital One, KPMG, and HPE—were eligible to earn a NAFTrack Certification as part of the internship process. The certification could be a gateway to full-time employment.

At the end of July, the companies hosted graduation ceremonies to recognize the students’ hard work.

Jacqueline Revilla, a Woodrow Wilson High School student who interned at Capital One, was thankful for the internship opportunity.

“I’ve learned a lot and it’s been a great experience that I will definitely take with me for the rest of my life,” she said.

Robert Johnson, director of the Capital One Home Equity Office, said it was important for the company to participate in the program.

“Enabling, equipping and developing strong, civic minded youth who develop professional skills along the way is important to us,” Johnson said.
