Graduation season kicked off yesterday, and there is plenty to celebrate about this senior class.

For starters, Dallas ISD’s graduating class has received more than $104 million in college scholarships. Also, more than 7,500 seniors are expected to graduate this year

A one-stop shop for families

District officials signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Zan Wesley Holmes Jr. Community Outreach Center to transform Frazier Elementary, which closed in 2012, into a one-stop shop that will serve both students and their families. (Read this)

Benjamin Franklin Middle School students celebrated National Pet Day by reading to pets such as a hedgehog, turtle, bunnies, and a chinchilla. (Read this)

School books a First Lady-sized grant

The Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries awarded a 2016 library grant to the Dallas Environmental Science Academy. (Read this)

Digital and STEM skills

The Entertainment Software Association (ESA), Senator Royce West, and Trustee Joyce Foreman celebrated with Dallas’ first graduates of the ESA Digital Living Project at D.A. Hulcy STEAM Middle School. (Read this)
