Join us April 2 for Teacher Job Fair

0

Anyone interested in learning more about the teaching positions available in Dallas ISD should register for the April 2 job fair at Ellis Davis Field House. This is the first large-scale hiring event this year for the district.

Nearly all of the district’s 228 schools will be in attendance at the job fair, which starts at 9 a.m. and ends at noon. Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. Prospective candidates should register in advance to receive a ticket to be scanned at the door.

This is the only job fair scheduled during the Open Transfer Period, so this will be the only event opportunity current Dallas ISD teachers have to research other campuses.

Please visit the job fairs web page for more information on this and other Dallas ISD job fairs. To register for the April 2 job fair, and to get more information on what materials you need to make sure to bring with you, visit the Eventbrite registration page.

For those attending, here are seven tips to best prepare for the job fair:

Get Prepared
Prepare for a job fair the same way you would for an interview – get plenty of sleep the night before, dress professionally, make sure you eat something, and take a few minutes before you walk in to get mentally prepared to present yourself to several potential employers.

Bring Your Resume
Bring plenty of copies of your resume and make sure your certification is included on it. If you’re not certified yet, you must include your alternative certification information, future test dates, and the date you anticipate receiving your certificate.

Be Strategic
Research schools you’re interested in and visit your top schools first.

Do Your Research
Research the school performance of the campuses you’re interested in to demonstrate a commitment to the success of the school and their mission.

Show Your Work
Bring samples of your best work, such as student work, documents you’ve created, or lesson plans. Every principal might not request it, but it’s good to have on hand just in case a principal would like to view your work as part of the interview.

Have a Plan
Be cognizant of interview lines and use your time wisely. Prepare an introduction to make yourself standout from other candidates and show the school representative that you respect their time as well.

Ask for Help
If you’re unsure of what to do or where to go next, ask! Plenty of staff will be on hand to help you with any questions you might have. Just look for someone wearing a “staff” nametag. We want to make sure you get everything out of the job fair that you’re hoping to achieve.
