Students encouraged to apply for Stars on the Rise scholarship

Once again, the Grater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is inviting all seniors to apply for a Stars on the Rise scholarship. For 32 years, Stars on the Rise has given millions of dollars to talented students who can’t afford college.

Israel Rivera, Principal at Harrell Budd Elementary and a Stars on the Rise scholarship recipient, speaks highly of the scholarship.

“The scholarship provided a means for me to afford college books and pay for part of my tuition,” he said. “When you have nothing to start off with, this becomes a blessing. Stars on the Rise was the first scholarship I received and I will always remember that.”

Seniors are encouraged to apply by the March 31 deadline.

Stars on the Rise scholarships are open to all students regardless of ethnicity or immigration status.

If you are a graduating senior in Dallas ISD, you can apply online at https://www.eknow24.com/starsontherise/

“With the rising costs of attending college, it has become difficult for low-income families to afford higher education,” Rivera said. “Every bit helps to make it easier for students to afford tuition.  Most importantly, I would tell those applying that having a college degree will open doors to competitive jobs.”
