Please note: Dallas ISD recently made it easier for staff and students to access Youtube for professional and academic purposes. Here is how to view the above Youtube video: Staff signed into YouTube with their Google login (district email and EAD password) will have unrestricted access to YouTube. Staff signed into Chrome browser or a Chrome device will not be required to enter credentials for YouTube again, but may need to click the sign in button in the top right corner of the YouTube page to gain unrestricted access.

Denver Bronco Linebacker Corey Nelson recently returned to his middle school to deliver a message of inspiration and persistence to the students of Henry W. Longfellow Career Exploration Academy.

Nelson, who attended Longfellow as a student, was a special guest as part of Black History Month. Nelson told the students that no one is perfect and that everybody will deal with issues.

“But the thing that will make you strong is how you go through (those issues),” Nelson said.

Nelson said it was important for him to return to his middle school to let students know that someone who has been in their shoes has gone on to accomplish great things.

Longfellow Academy Principal Lorena Hernandez said the students were very receptive to what Nelson had to say.

“Students really take to someone who is out there, who has been through the same things as them, and has made it,” she said. “He is a witness that education can propel you to your dreams.”
