Additional funding for upgrades at South Oak Cliff High School are part of the bond program phasing proposal to be considered by the Board of Trustees during its briefing on Thursday, Feb. 11.

The Final Revised Phasing Plan, an outline for projects under the 2015 Bond Program, contains $25 million for South Oak Cliff High School (SOC). That’s up from $13 million in the original plan. The increased spending will be used to complete the original project scope that included roofing and plumbing improvements as well as the following:

  • Create new entrance to the school with a new entrance plaza and lobby that will redefine and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the building;
  • Build competition size gymnasium with new and renovated locker rooms;
  • Expand the cafeteria dining area;
  • Renovate and expand library/media center;

The phasing plan divides the $1.6 billion bond program into five phases. A complete copy of the plan may be found on the Board of Trustees agenda at www.dallasisd.org. The trustee briefing will be at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 11, at the Board of Auditorium at 3700 Ross Ave.

The cost of the additional work will not be determined until the program management firm and architect are hired and the project is designed.
