Trustees honored for service during School Board Recognition Month

0

While members of the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees are accustomed to recognizing the special achievements of students and staff, at January’s regular board meeting the spotlight was on them. Each trustee was recognized for the time and effort they perform for students at the Jan. 28 meeting as part of School Board Recognition Month.

A student from each trustee district created artwork for their respective board members. Three students were on hand to help present their creations. Melany Davila of Nancy Moseley Elementary made artwork for District 4 Trustee Nancy Bingham; Keylon Winn of Roger Q. Mills Elementary made artwork for District 5 Trustee Lew Blackburn; and Nathaniel Delgado of Celestino Soto Jr. Elementary School made artwork that was presented to Superintendent Michael Hinojosa.

In addition, Cathy Vernon and Sharon Cornell, staff members at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, created portraits of each trustee depicting them as superheroes.
