Officials from the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Ford Motor Company, City of Dallas and Dallas ISD helped celebrate Tim Brown Day on Friday, Nov. 6, with three events throughout the day.

Brown won the Heisman Trophy while playing football at Notre Dame University, and went on to have a distinguished career for the Los Angeles Raiders in the NFL. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame earlier this fall.

The first event on Friday was a high-energy pep rally at Woodrow Wilson High School, where Brown played football before graduating in 1984. Woodrow’s band, Sweethearts drill team, cheerleaders and hundreds of students packed into the school’s auditorium. The pep rally culminated in the unveiling of a replica Hall of Fame plaque that will be installed at the school – unveiled by Brown and his son Taylor.

Immediately afterward, Brown was celebrated by Woodrow alumni and fellow school Hall of Fame inductees at a reception. There were two more surprises there – his Woodrow Hall of Fame plaque, which had been taken from his mother’s house earlier this year, was recovered by alumni and returned to him. The other surprise was that Brown was honored with digital messages that appeared on Reunion Tower and the Omni Hotel in downtown Dallas on Friday.

Finally, during halftime of the Woodrow-Bryan Adams football game that night, Brown was honored with presentations including a Woodrow Wildcats football helmet.
