Proposed bond projects for District 1

With the Nov. 3 election less than a month away, The Hub is breaking down how proceeds from the proposed $1.6 billion bond, which is not expected to raise tax rates, could impact each of Dallas ISD’s nine trustee districts.

Please note: All bond projects, project amounts, and program allocations are estimates that remain subject to district discretion. This is a guide to District 1.

New pre-K–8 school

Proceeds from the proposed bond are anticipated to create a new elementary in the Far North Dallas area. The school’s exact location is still to be determined.

New classrooms

Proceeds from the proposed bond are anticipated to create 16 new classrooms at Thomas Jefferson High School and 12 new classrooms at T.C. Marsh Middle School.

New educational programs

Proceeds from the proposed bond are anticipated to repurpose classrooms for preK at Herbert Marcus Elementary School.

Facility improvements

Proceeds from the proposed bond are anticipated to fund facility improvements at almost every school in District 1. Improvements include windows/doors, roofs, HVAC, and plumbing. Also, Jefferson and White are slated for science labs, auditorium, performing and fine arts, and gym and locker room enhancements.

Election Day is Nov. 3
