Select Dallas ISD libraries open to greater community this summer (video)

Did you know that 32 Dallas ISD libraries are open this summer?

Did you know that students, parents, and members of the community can check out books from these libraries? Did you know that all you need is a phone number to check out a book, no ID is necessary?

Did you know that Dallas ISD also offers ebooks to parents, students and staff through Overdrive? Parents and students can access Overdrive using a student’s identification number and pin; staff can access ebooks using their employee identification number and the last four digits of their employee identification number as the pin.

The Dallas ISD libraries are open every day from 8 a.m.–2:30 p.m. during Summer School, which runs through July 16. Gay Patrick, director of Library Media Services, said parents, students, and community members checked out more than 70,000 books from Dallas ISD libraries last summer. This year, Patrick hopes to double, if not triple, that number.

People can also participate in enrichment activities at the libraries. Click here to learn more about the district’s summer library efforts.
