Robert E. Lee and William B. Lispcomb in candidacy year for International Baccalaureate designation

0

Robert E. Lee and William B. Lispcomb elementary schools are the latest Dallas Independent School District campuses to participate in the International Baccalaureate program, both entering as Primary Years Programme (PYP) schools.

As PYP schools, both Lee and Lispcomb will be among approximately 1,266 schools nationwide to implement this first stage of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, which assists students ages 3-12 in developing the skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to excel in their studies and in their personal growth. According to the IB website, those schools will employ a rigorous curriculum focused on how students learn most effectively and how educators can support that work.

To become a PYP school, applicants must participate in a preparation that can take two to three years. Steps include a review of qualifications and achievements, several months of consultations and trial implementation, and verification visits.

Both Lee and Lispcomb are part of the Woodrow Wilson feeder pattern, and they join Woodrow Wilson High and J.L. Long Middle School as IB schools. With the addition of Lee and Lispcomb, the feeder pattern now offers the full IB pathway.
