From donations for a walking track to students riding on the Mavs Fans Express and meeting a professional basketball player, plenty of great things are happening at Dallas ISD schools.

Hexter receives $10,000 bonus to go toward walking track
Hexter Elementary recently won a $10,000 bonus for having the most shares of a link to www.growinghealthyschools.org, an initiative from It’s Time Texas that promotes healthy living. The $10,000 bonus will help fund an effort to install a walking track at the school. Hexter has set a goal to raise $40,000 by the end of the year to fund the installation of the walking track.

Sanger Elementary students win trip to Dallas Mavericks game, meet Tyson Chandler
After winning a UNICEF Challenge for fitness and releasing the most food packets that were then shipped to Africa, students from Sanger Elementary were rewarded with a ride on the Mavs Fans Express Bus to a Dallas Mavericks game. Foster Elementary students receive Kindle Fires
The Jiv Daya Foundation has donated a Kindle Fire to every 3rd–5th grade student and teacher at Foster Elementary School. The donation, which was more than $31,000, is going to support Personalized Learning and enhancing technology at the school. Obadiah Knight Elementary School student wins first place in poster contest
Alejandro Hernandez, a fourth-grader at Obadiah Knight Elementary School, won first place at this year’s Dallas Bar Association Law Day Poster Contest. The Law Day Contest was only open to Dallas ISD students. The contest asked students to create artwork focused on the Law Day theme: “The Magna Carta stood for the idea that all people are equal under the law. A colorful run for Gaston students
Members of W.H. Gaston Middle School’s Catch team recently participated in The Color Run, which is a 5-kilometer, untimed race held at Fair Park. It is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness, and individuality. Robert T. Hill parents attend community workshop
Parents at Robert T. Hill recently completed a nine-week parent workshop conducted by The Concilio, a group that aims to build stronger communities by empowering parents to improve the education and health of their families. The workshops were designed to help the parents understand their middle school-aged children and how to help them with school-related issues.
