Campus staff and administrators who were crucial in the district’s response to the Ebola virus in October 2014 were honored at a special reception on Monday, Feb. 9, at the Crow Collection of Asian Art. Individuals had been previously presented with Superintendent’s Awards of Meritorious Service and Commendation at Emmett J. Conrad High School, Sam Tasby Middle School/Jack Lowe Sr. Elementary School, L.L. Hotchkiss Elementary School, Dan D. Rogers Elementary School and the Administration Building.

Superintendent honors champions of Dallas ISD’s Ebola response

The staff members went above and beyond their regular duties in the response, working extra hours and striving to assure the community that their schools were safe. The response was prompted when district officials learned that five Dallas ISD students had direct contact with the first patient diagnosed with the Ebola virus in the United States. None of the affected students contracted the virus, and they returned to school after the prescribed quarantine period.
