District releases guidelines on use of new local leave policy

By News and Information on November 21, 2014 News Briefs

As shared in an earlier Dallas ISD notice, staff will receive an additional two local days for a total of five. The implementation of additional local days is on an expedited timeline. However, there are some personnel and payroll systems that need to be adjusted to account for the additional days. The additional local days will be available to use effective January 1, 2015. Please note the following guidelines regarding the addition of days:

  • The additional local days will be applied effective Jan. 1, 2015.
  • If you were credited the original three local days on Sept. 1, 2014, two additional local days will be credited to you on Jan. 1, 2015.
  • If you were a late hire and have received local days on a prorated basis, you will receive the additional local days on a prorated basis calculated using a total of five local days instead of the original three. The additional prorated amount will be credited to you on Jan. 1, 2015.
  • The new additional days cannot be retroactively applied to cover leave of any kind before Jan. 1, 2015.

To learn more about other changes to DEC (Local) approved by the Board of Trustees, please see the attached Quick Guide.
