The MVP initiative of the Dallas ISD Coordinated School Health Initiative emphasizes three components essential to a healthy lifestyle: M = move and stay active, V = value healthy eating, and P = practice healthy habits. For the Dallas community, the Dec. 13 Cigna Dallas Mayor’s Race 5K and one mile fun run offers an enjoyable opportunity to move and stay active. Each registered participant will receive an official race T-shirt and a finisher’s medal.
In addition to improving health and helping with weight loss, running is known to relieve stress, boost confidence and decrease depression. The added benefits of running in a race such as the upcoming Cigna Dallas Mayor’s Race include supporting a cause, meeting other runners, and the satisfaction of accomplishing a goal.
Thanks to a collaboration with several community partners, Dallas ISD students and staff can register for the 5K Run & Walk and the one mile fun run at no charge. Parents who want to register their students for the race can find the registration form here.
Students and teachers must register by Friday, Nov. 14.
