Superintendent Mike Miles thanked Becky Muñoz-Díaz, general manager for Univision Channel 23 and Unimas 49, for her 19 years of service with Univision and her 18 years of partnership with Dallas ISD. Miles presented Munoz-Diaz with an award to honor her efforts to provide the parents and families of Dallas ISD with the resources, answers and support needed to help them succeed in education.

“Becky Munoz-Diaz leadership at Univision 23 has been marked by a steadfast commitment to community service and, in particular, to students and parents in the Dallas Independent School District, “said Miles. “Our parents are better informed because of her belief that education can transform lives. She has been a tremendous friend to the school district for many years.”

Through a developed partnership, Dallas ISD and Univision aired special television programming such as ¡Trabajando Juntos Podemos!, Aquí en Dallas ISD and Zona Escolar and Lápiz y Papel among other shows and countless public service announcements. Muñoz-Díaz’s dedication to the Spanish-speaking community and education resulted in numerous opportunities for Dallas ISD to showcase the schools, programs and opportunities through live radio remotes, the community affairs program Vive la Mañana interviews and news packages.

In the past 18 years, it is estimated that Univision and Univision Radio have provided on-air time to Dallas ISD valued at more than $1.8 million
